Ashton 88 Football Club - News July 2015

Following a few months of preparation the senior team will return to the Evesham Sunday League on Sunday 6th September 2015 when they compete for the first time since 2013. The squad features local Ashton players; Ewan Billinge, Daniel Garland, Kieran James, Tom Perry, Tom Jones and Graham Begley. The team is made up of other local players from surrounding villages in and around Evesham. The club is now sponsored by Campfire Marketing Ltd, an online company based in Cheltenham.

Pre-season friendlies commenced on Friday 26th June when Ashton hosted Charlton Old Boys. The match saw two Zambian visitors joining each side to support a local cultural link between Zambian and local schools.

On Sunday 9th August the side will play Jackson's Fairfield in a memorial match in memory of Emily Mayo at the Playing Fields. The club is proud to announce that this fantastic fixture can commence once again on an annual basis. Kick off will be at 10:30am.

Friendlies will conclude on Sunday 30th August when Ashton 88 take on a selection of Ex-Ashton players that have once graced an Ashton shirt in the past. All are welcome to come and support players past and present. A number of high profile ex-professionals are rumoured to make an appearance for the Ashton Old Boys team. These include Lee Hendrie, Ryan Amoo, Colin Gibson (ex-Aston Villa), John Finnigan (ex-Cheltenham Town) and Darren Byfield (ex-Walsall). Once again Kick off is at 10:30am.
