A46 safety campaign update

As you know, Ashton and Sedgeberrow PCs have been campaigning on behalf of seven other PCs, and all our parishioners, for urgent safety measures to be implemented along the A46 between Evesham and Teddington Hands. We have had several meetings with MPs, West Mercia Police Commissioner, National Highways, Safer Roads Partnership and Worcestershire & Wychavon councillors. The attached roadworks notification are the first round of improvements which will include new cautionary signage, chevrons, high visibility bollards and road markings. We are also awaiting, hopefully in the next few months, a specially designed vehicle activated sign (VAS) for the dangerous bend just before the Childswickham/Broadway Rd junction. A speed limit consultation is also under way and police seem to support a speed reduction at Hinton Cross. The latter will take longer, possibly a year. There are other measures under discussion.

More posts to follow this from Harriet Baldwin MP (an article) and Elizabeth Eyre, county councillor, both of whom have been extremely supportive of our campaign, have lobbied hard for us all and to whom we are really grateful. Thanks also to Lucy Fletcher for starting her petition and for bringing media attention to the campaign. We will update you all further once we have more information on the speed limit consultation and any other measures. Let’s hope this is the beginning of a safer local A46 for everyone!
