Hello. I’m Karen Rowley. I live ‘by the telephone box’ in the Old Post House. My other half is Paul and we have lived in the village for 12 years. I work part time as a personal trainer and yoga teacher, run our self catering barn and really enjoy cycling and walking. I’m PC Chair and also look after ‘comms’ in the village, e.g. website, group email & facebook. You can contact me on 07976 906653, cllr.karenrowley@gmail.comcreate new email or ashtonuhillcommunity@gmail.comcreate new email.
Hello, my name is Nikki McIntyre and I’m Vice Chair. I have lived in Ashton for 16 years with husband Colin, 3 teenage kids and 2 dogs. We have been very slowly renovating our house at the top of Cottons Lane for the whole of that time and have finally finished. I work as Business Development Manager for a large fresh produce business. Any spare time usually involves walking and more recently running, I read as much as I can and potter in my kitchen. As a councillor I am responsible for footpaths, trees, broadband and working on memorial improvements.
Hello, I’m Andy Robinson and I live in Elmley Castle with my wife, 2 children and 1 dog. I am new to Worcestershire, having moved here in 2017 from the North West after a significant lifestyle change. We now have a smallholding where we keep sheep and chickens and now thoroughly enjoy the rural lifestyle. I am Clerk for Ashton Under Hill Parish Council as well as another local Parish Council. When not working you will regularly find me walking our dog on Bredon Hill or enjoying the outdoors with two children in tow.
Hello, I’m Doreen Cope and I have lived in the village all my life. I have two sons, Sam and Matthew. I have a lovely granddaughter, Sam’s daughter Ava. As well as serving on the Parish Council (for more than 30 years!), I am also on the ASC committee and run ‘Busy Fingers’, our village mother and baby group. You might also see me in the mornings delivering papers around the village, a job I’ve been doing for many years!
Hello, I’m Jayne Barker. I am married to Bob and have lived in Ashton for 27 years. I have always lived in villages and strongly believe in protecting and supporting our rural communities. We have three daughters who attended both schools in the village. We recently became grandparents which we are very happy about! When I have any spare time you can find me in the garden or sewing. My role on the council is communications support along with Karen.
Hello, I’m Dave Rose. I moved to Ashton three years ago, with my wife Sue. We have enjoyed 41 years together, sharing joyous moments with our two boys Mike and Dan, and our wonderful grandchildren, Jack and Dylan. I am retired, following enjoyable service with Birmingham City Council. My roles included, teaching (primary and secondary), strategic development and senior management of constituency services. I enjoy sport (ex-runner and footballer), volunteering and currently serve on the ASC committee. We are home improving, but escape for daily walks upon glorious Bredon Hill. I want to help repay the kindness of many residents who have made us so welcome.
Hello I’m Nigel Akers. I moved to Ashton 18 months ago with my partner Louise and we recently added Dora the spaniel to our family. We got to know the village over the last 10 years when we annually visited Ashton Open Gardens and always left commenting how community spirited and welcoming the village was. I took early retirement following a career in the oil valve and automotive industry and we decided a the same time to move to Ashton. We have spent the last 18 months doing up our house in Gorse Hill. Now this is coming to an end I want to give something back to the community that has welcomed us in.
